On the Look-out for a Career Move: How Do You Know You Are Ready To Get Promoted?

It is every employees dream to climb up the ladder of success as part of a great career. However, there are certain factors that needed to be met and qualifications that need to be satisfied. So how do you know you are ready to get promoted?

First things first, know the status of your company. It is safe to bet on a promotion when the company you are working for is stable and has passed a series of challenges as it matures in the industry. To keep yourself up to date, always attend your departments quarterly meetings and see how you can ensure a spot in the upper levels of the organization.

Actually, you never know when the boss will call you to talk about your evaluation and if there is indeed a spot he can give you. It is up to you to make things work and get noticed and promoted if you qualify for a position.

Managers and company executives are the ones to rely on when it comes to training and assessing their subordinates if they qualify for a specific position in the company. So be on the prowl for internal hiring and always be visible to let your superiors know you are interested.

In some cases, managers or supervisors may choose a few of their subordinates to undergo trainings and seminars. The selection process depends on the qualifications and experience of specific employees, thus, making sure that the selection process will yield a candidate well suited for the job. If you are one of the candidates for a
training that is only offered for senior or qualified employees, then you can be sure that a promotion may be at hand.

Sometimes, a straight forward approach will do. Like in some companies were supervisors or managers can hand pick the person who fits the qualification even without undergoing training. Possible reasons are: if the person has been employed long enough to learn advanced skills; have worked with a company that offered advanced trainings but didn’t get promoted up until his/her transfer; has the educational background to back him/her up.

There is no specific timing for a promotion nowadays, so always be on the look-out. If you think you qualify for internal hiring, you should talk to your boss and let them know you are interested.

How do you know you are ready to get promoted in such circumstances? Well, theres no telling how and when. But it is advisable to learn additional skills and get noticed to earn the attention of your superiors.
