Networking Can Bag You A Promotion
As an employee, we all want that promotion. It turns out we can’t get that promotion alone. Aside from the fact that it is the boss who approves or declines your request for promotion, you also have to consider the opinions of your co-workers.
The bright side on this situation is that your co-worker can be the key in getting that promotion. Through networking, you may be a step closer to that desired position. As long as they have good things to say about you, then you won’t have any trouble getting to the top.
Networking can get you that promotion. The boss wants an employee who has a good reputation with the company. When your network has nothing but good news to share with the boss about you as an employee than you can consider the promotion in the bag.
Just remember these guidelines:
1. Make sure that whatever they say about you is 100% true.
2. Your referral should also mention how long you have worked with the company. It should also state what you have been able to provide during your tenure.
3. You should be different when compared to your competition. You should have something special to offer and your network must know what this is exactly so that they would be able to word it better to the boss.
4. You must let your network know your strengths. This will help them concentrate on that aspect.
A promotion means more responsibilities. Your network must be convinced that when you get the position you will be able to deliver the goods. This is simply because it is your word against theirs. If their referral gets you the promotion and you disappoint the boss, that will reflect badly on them and their recommendation.
A network is quite helpful in building up your credibility as an employee. You can use this to your advantage. By becoming a model employee, you won’t have a hard time convincing the network that you are worthy of the position. It will also be easier for them to talk you up to the boss.
We all want a promotion. Networking can get you one. Just make sure that you deserve the good word that your network will pitch in for the boss to hear. If not, you can expect this blessing to eventually bite you on your backside.
