Self Promotion to Get Promotion

You have been working on the same job for the past five years. It was your first job and you stayed with it for the last five years but you haven’t been promoted yet and got that raise that you’ve always wanted. What do you do?

Getting promoted to the job you like or to the position you desire may be a bit tricky at times, especially if you aren’t in line for the promotion. You might need to make yourself noticed by your boss to get it or promote yourself in the process. How do you do it?

Perhaps these could be a few tips towards getting your most wanted promotion.

Get noticed by your supervisor and your co-workers.
If your boss knows who you are, it is likely they will make you a candidate for positions they know you might be capable of handling. If your boss knows you, he will be well aware of what you can do and your skills. He will be able to know what kinds of jobs you can handle and in effect he will have a clear grasp of who you are. With this knowledge, he will be able to know where to put you once promotions are in season. It would be easier for him also to find a suitable position for you in your organization since he knows what you can do.

Try to get yourself noticed by your boss about updates of your accomplishments at work.
Accomplishments at work are very much appreciated and should be highlighted at times. Why is this necessary? It is needed since your boss will be able to know what things you are good at and what are your strengths and abilities. Accomplishments at work if noticed by your boss will be a good guide for them to put you in positions that would be beneficial for you and your entire organization. Your employer could tap you for positions that would maximize your capabilities as a worker to the advantage of the organization. In no time, if your employers know what you can achieve and do, youll get that promotion you have been eyeing for a long time.

If you are to nominate a person at work to get a promotion, try nominating yourself, you never know you just might get the job. In certain organizations, there are democratic nominations of people for promotion. If you are given this right, try nominating yourself. It might sound a bit self promoting but the key here is to get the promotion and get the job. This is your chance to put yourself in the spotlight and get that promotion. This will also show confidence in yourself and the strength of your belief in what you can achieve as an individual. There is no harm in trying. If you don’t try, you’ll never know what might be. Try a little dash of self confidence and nominate yourself for that promotion.

You may try another company and try getting a higher position than what you have at the moment. This is an extreme technique on how to get that promotion that you have always wanted, that is to transfer to another company. If all the things mentioned don’t work for you, you might try this technique. Several individuals have been successful in this kind of technique and you could be one of them. You could start job searching on the internet and apply online for positions that you find most applicable for the qualifications that you may have. You never know one of them might call you up and you might be making your arrangements for a new job with a promotion. You could also, perhaps, get the raise that you have always wanted after making your agreements with the organization you intend to transfer.

Getting that promotion seem a bit difficult but it could be easy if you look into it carefully. So, why waste time, get those qualifications and accomplishments ready, your promotion just might be around the corner and you could be picked as the lucky one by the boss in no time.
